Nicely run campgrounds.. Newer bathrooms.. Nice lake.. We are going to camp here again.. Wood is $7 a bundle and its not the bag wood..

No hookups, staff a bit rude. Public launch is closed, go somewhere else...

Omg NO ELECTRICITY! Miles and miles up twisty turning back roads. Motorhomes would be smart to pass. BUT fairly nice campground, great staff, no one in lake, great for renters!! Lots of young kids to play with. Nice playground. Just not for us.

Spent 3 nights there and only had hot water on day one. Given that it was the beginning of September, a cold shower was not welcome! Might as well have jumped in the lake... (This is the only reason for the 3 star review-otherwise 5 stars) Aside from that, the campground was very clean and well maintained. They had both firewood and ice that you could buy at a reasonable price. The nature center was REALLY nice - great for kids and adults -interesting fossils and animals stuffed and alive. The trails are marked really well and easy to follow. As a slight disappointment we were led to believe from the nys parks website that we'd be able to get into John Boyd Thatcher State Park for free as we were camping 3 miles away. A $6 fee but still worth the visit. If you go after 6pm there is no parking fee fyi.

If you're looking for a campsite where people are shooting fireworks at midnight and running flatscreen televisions off of gas-powered generators, this is for you. If you're looking for a nature experience then look elsewhere. If you don't have bicycles with you there's not much to do with kids. The small lake would have been nice if there weren't dogs off leash getting into fights all around us. No trail heads nearby and the flora is impenetrable bramble. This is basically a KOA on public lands. My kid asked, "Is this out street?" since it's like being in a city. Bathrooms have no surface to set anything down nor hooks for towels and clothes.
